Welcome to The Cornmill at Kirby Mills

Your hosts are Karen and Chris Tinkler and we will be delighted to welcome you to our home. We have been here since 2002 and continue to look for ways to improve your stay with us, as some of you who have been here before will recognise from the pictures!

We offer well appointed bed and breakfast accommodation on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, half way between Helmsley and Pickering and convenient for Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, York and the North Yorkshire Coast.

There are records in the Domesday book of a watermill in Kirby Mills. The present Cornmill was built around 1750 and was a working watermill until the mid-1950’s. The mill race can still be seen via a glass viewing panel running beneath the dining room. The guest rooms are in the farm house (added around 1850) and the cottages are in what was the old stable block. All three buildings – plus reception - encircle the courtyard, which provides a haven of tranquillity (with seating, so you can relax).

Wifi access is free of charge, although there are some "black spots" due to the thick stone walls. Let us know if you have any problems.

As mentioned above, the rates are per room per night, based on two sharing (we don't have any rooms for more than two guests sharing).

In peak period at the weekends, there are no reductions for use of a room by one person. At other times, reductions do apply. If you use the "Book Your Stay With Us Online" option further up this page, you will see the correct one person rate for the dates you want.

The guest house isn't suitable for children under the age of 12 and, as children of 12 or older use the same bed places as adults and usually eat as much, we don't give a reduction for children.

Please note that we do not normally accept one-night stays at weekends in the peak months and that there may be a chargeable supplement for such a stay. Peak period starts on Good Friday and lasts until the end of October.

Please also note that bookings that include one of the days mentioned above should be for two or more nights
